About this site and its creator...

For so, so many years, I have been a great fan of the two art forms of animation and videogames, this site is, in part, a celebration of them both (although I enjoy live action films and TV as well, just not as much). I started drawing in 1996 as a recreational hobby, which made it more than something I did at my school art lessons, I have improved a tad since then, finishing a design course and taking another course in animation, but I am always willing to learn something new.

Around 1999, I was introduced to the internet via the college library and was enthralled, so much potential information, so little time. Now, over ten years later, I started this modest little site, my own thread on the web, so to speak.

Currently I am one of the editors of keyframe, a resource for animation; my reviews of animated films, etc, can also be found there. In terms of videogames, I started with the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, then got a Sega Master System and a Megadrive - or Genesis if you must - before moving to Nintendo and Sony hardware. Apart from retro consoles, I own a Nintendo Wii, a DS and the Playstation3.

F.A.Q.

Where did the name starlac come from?

In the instance of this site, I was trying to come up with an appropriate name for my bat character, and the word stalactite came to mind. Stalactites are the deposition of minerals hanging like a fang from a cave's ceiling, since bats also hang from the roof of caves, I found it to match the bat. I added the "r" to the first part of the word to create a space-like quality to it and ditched the last group of letters. I since found out that others had used the spelling starlac, for other things, though by that time I had been using it as a moniker for several years.

For whatever reason, you can contact the site via email at admin@starlac.net, if you want a response then keep the e-mail clean, clearly marked, to the point and no attachments.
